NOAA Human Resources Employee Assistance Program Page Heading

Healthy employees and healthy work environments are important to the Department of Commerce. Good relationships at work, and at home, allow employees to focus on the tasks at hand and to accomplish more. If difficulties occur, professional counselors are available through the Employee Assistance Program to provide guidance and support to employees and their families.

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a counseling service offered to Department of Commerce employees. It is administered by the Ceridian Corporation, one of the most experienced EAP providers in the country. Through this program employees are offered , at no charge, a minimum of three, but not more than four counseling sessions. Department of Commerce employees can see more information about Ceridian, at www.lifeworks.com, ID noaa and password 5018 for access.

Who Is Eligible:
Employees of the Department of Commerce are eligible for participation in this program. Family members, such as a spouse, dependent children and other persons living in the same house and/or who receive at least half their support from the employee, are also qualified for these services.

Services Offered:
It is impossible to list all of the circumstances that might bring someone to EAP. Listed below are some of the more common reasons people choose EAP:

    • Marriage/Family Issues • Emotional Problems
    • Stress • Alcoholism
    • Financial & Credit Issues • Pre-Retirement Planning
    • Organizing Life's Affairs • Legal Questions
    • Elder Care • Child Care
    • Drug Dependency • Federal Tax Problems
    • Critical Incidents

How To Contact The EAP:
You or your eligible family members may contact the EAP directly twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. All calls to the EAP are confidential. The number to contact is (toll free) 1-877-234-5151, or, for the hearing impaired, TDD 1-800-999-3004. A Ceridian representative will answer your call and ask for such information as your name, organization, address and phone number, job title, length of service, and a brief description of the problem. Shortly thereafter, a trained counselor will contact you.
