Hurricane Katrina Response
NOAA Human Resources Employee Assistance Program Page Heading

LifeWorks — support and resources to help cope with Hurricane Katrina.

Hurricane Katrina has hit the coast of the United States, affecting parts of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. High winds and flooding are forcing mass evacuations.

If you or your family has been affected by Hurricane Katrina, LifeWorks can help. At no cost to you, you may call LifeWorks anytime at 877-234-5151. Consultants are ready to help you understand safety and logistical issues during and after the hurricane. If you live or work in an area that is affected, consultants can also help you find the emergency services and resources that you need and deal with the anxiety—your own, your child’s, or another family member’s—that can accompany a natural disaster. Consultants can help you:

  • Identify local resources that are available to help
  • Understand your options if your family has been affected
  • Find resources for food, clothing, and shelter
  • Create a family emergency plan
  • Find out how to protect your property and your family
  • Deal with feelings of anxiety and fear
  • Find ways to connect with your family, friends and co-workers
  • Find services for an older relative
