Workstation Requirements for Commerce Employees
Taking SkillSoft Classes

Please note that the most common employee technical issues will likely be caused by an unsupported Java version running on the employee's desktop or a Popup blocker not being disabled. To help identify if an employee has the appropriate settings, you can have the employee run the following browser test link (http://browser.skillport.com). Please note that this test link will run four individual tests. The only test results that are relevant for this training initiative. If an employee does not meet one or more of the technical requirements, we ask that you work with each employee to update their desktop settings accordingly.

Windows Computer Requirement:

• Operating System Windows NT 4.0, 2000, or XP (including Service Pack 2)
  
  
• Internet Explorer 5.5 (or higher)
  OR
  Netscape Navigator 7.x OR Mozilla Browser v1.6
• 133 MHz or higher processor
  
  
• 16MB RAM (32MB recommended)
  
  Please Note: Minimum recommended screen resolution is 1024x768 with at least 16 -bit color depth instructions.

Browser settings:

• Popups allowed
  
  
• Enable Active Scripting and Scripting of Java Applets
  
  
• Support Java v1.02 and JavaScript v1.0
  
  
• Clear all browser cache files
  
  
• Clear all JAVA cache
  
  
• Disable Microsoft JVM
  

Plug-ins:

• Flash Player 4.0 required with Flash Player 8.0 preferred
  
  

JRE:

• Disable Microsoft virtual machine
  
  
• Sun JRE version 1.3.1_02 to 5.0_06
  
  

Additional Computer Requirement for Persons requiring the use of a screen reader:

• JAWS 6.0 or 6.2
  
  
• Java Accessibility Bridge 1.2 (available at http://java.sun.com)
  
  
• Internet Explorer 6.x as your default browser
  
  
• JRE 1.4.2. or higher
  
  

Macintosh Computer Requirement:
Currently the Macintosh platform is not supported. It is suggested that the end user work with their IT contact to identify a computer they can use, which utilizes Windows. If the end user has access to a Windows computer outside of the workplace, this would also be a viable solution.
