The mission of the James D. Martin Employee Worklife Center is to help NOAA Employees achieve greater balance between their work and personal lives. Or perhaps, an elderly parent is moving in and you're unsure how to balance the dual family households. Well, the monthly newsletters or resource links on this site will cover these kinds of topics and many others. Browse this site, and we think you will find information that helps you create greater balance in your life.

Because of Jim Martin's dedication to worklife issues and diversity, the NOAA Diversity Committee decided to rename the NOAA Employee Worklife Center in memory of Jim. The James D. Martin Employee Worklife Center is a reflection of what Jim believed in and worked hard to support while at NOAA. Jim spent countless hours supporting worklife and diversity issues for his colleagues at NOAA's Marine and Aviation Operations.
Jim also recognized the importance of educating our young people about NOAA science. He was dedicated to fostering a relationship with Shepherd
Elementary School, in Washington, D.C. Jim was instrumental in not only
coordinating judges to volunteer during the school's yearly science fair,
but he also worked diligently to get the students computers from NOAA's surplus program.
