Bronze Medal

The Department of Commerce Bronze Medal is the highest honor award that the Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere may bestow. Winners are recognized annually at a formal ceremony held in the Washington Metropolitan area. The medals are awarded to individuals, groups (or teams), and organizations. Individuals and members of groups each receive a personalized plaque from the Under Secretary. Organizations receive one plaque to represent the entire organization.

Each nomination must be vetted and approved at the Line or Staff Office level, which usually involves a PMAC (Performance Management and Awards Committee), before final submission to WFMO. If you have questions about your office's PMAC, please contact your awards liaison. Email the Bronze Nomination Form as an attachment to your Line or Staff Office PMAC coordinator.

Once approved at the PMAC level, the nomination should be emailed to the NOAA Honor Award Program Manager.

NOTE: A group nomination (Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medal) is limited to a maximum of 10 individuals. No exceptions are permitted to this Departmental requirement. (See Program Requirements)

Only Federal employees, as defined in 5 USC 2105, are eligible for Bronze Medal nominations.
