NOAA Annual Employee Survey Results

NOAA is committed to recruiting and retaining a high-performing, diverse workforce that is able to meet our challenging mission. NOAA employee participation in annual surveys helps us gauge our organizational strengths and shortcomings by providing actionable data on employee perceptions and management challenges. Annual employee surveys include the Federal Human Capital Survey (FHCS) conducted in even years, and a Department of Commerce (DOC) survey conducted in odd years. Each survey contains an almost identical set of questions. This webpage shares the results of such surveys.

The FHCS was conducted again in 2008; DOC has published Department-wide results. The Office of Personnel Management has released the results of the 2008 FHCS at the Bureau level. Bureau-level review of the 2008 FHCS data and development of action plans will occur in Q3 FY 2009.

Comparison of 2006 and 2007 Employee Surveys
The following is a compilation of NOAA employee responses to the 2006 FHCS and the 2007 DOC employee survey. The survey is organized into six sections (e.g., Personal Work Experiences, Performance Culture, Leadership) with one or more questions in each section. The percentage of positive, neutral, negative and undecided responses are provided for NOAA and DOC (overall for the 2007 DOC survey).
