NOAA Annual Employee Survey Results

NOAA is committed to recruiting and retaining a high-performing, diverse workforce able to meet its challenging missions. Employee participation in annual surveys allows NOAA to gauge its organizational strengths and shortcomings by providing actionable data on employee perceptions and management challenges. One such survey is the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS) administered annually by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

The FEVS contains approximately 95 items that focuses on multiple areas of work life, areas which, in turn, drive employee satisfaction, commitment, and ultimately employee retention and engagement. Aggregated results enable NOAA to more closely assess individual line and staff office performance. Such results become the basis for actions plans designed to drive higher-level organizational improvements.

Unlike earlier surveys, the 2012 FEVS reached out to almost every permanent civilian employee in the Executive branch. A record breaking 5,280 NOAA employees made their voices heard. This web page shares those results.
